Bosa Coastal Italian Now Offers Saturday and Sunday Brunch

Downtown Haverhill’s Bosa Coastal Italian now serves brunch with, what it calls, “Italian flair and unique flavors” on Saturday and Sunday. The brunch menu features sandwiches made with Sal’s Pizza dough and more. It is offered Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the restaurant, 160 Merrimack St., Haverhill. Bosa Coastal Italian says it offers creative coastal Italian cuisine and curated cocktails, “among a beautiful, riverfront backdrop of the Merrimack River.”

Healey’s and Agrawal’s Roles in Saving Holy Family Hospital Take Center Stage at Chamber Dinner

Monday’s annual meeting of the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce brought together the two women most responsible for saving Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and Haverhill. Gov. Maura T. Healey thanked Lawrence General Hospital President and CEO Abha Agrawal as she was honored with the Ralph B. Wilkinson Award, the Chamber’s highest honor. The governor put in place the state’s response to the bankruptcy of Steward Health Care, while Agrawal made the bold bid to buy the hospital with campuses in two neighboring cities. Healey praised Agrawal as “the right leader at the right time.”

“What a mess when we got the word that Steward was going out of business,” she said. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they’re out of the state.

CNA Stores Names Shay Foundation, Ozzie’s Kids as Year-End Charities

CNA Stores in Haverhill and Amesbury has put out its charity jars this month for the benefit of scholarships in the name of late Sgt. Jordan M. Shay and designated Haverhill-based Ozzie’s Kids as December’s Charity of the Month. In addition, the cannabis retailer is ready to kick off its fifth annual Snow Angel Project, aimed at helping financially stretched seniors in Amesbury and Haverhill clear driveways and walkways after winter storms, and conduct a Christmas Stocking Drive for veterans. The Sgt. Jordan M. Shay Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit honoring Shay’s legacy.

Haverhill Bank Names Soares, White as West Newbury, Salem, N.H., Branch Managers

Haverhill Bank recently named branch managers at its offices in West Newbury and Salem, N.H.

Fernanda Soares, who joined Haverhill Bank in 2016, was named West Newbury branch manager, while Nadine M. White recently joined the team and will serve as Salem, N.H., branch manager. Soares, of Salem, N.H., most recently served Haverhill Bank as Salem, N.H., branch manager and previously as Whittier Regional Technical High School branch manager and as a universal banker. She also worked as a member service representative and office administrator at Lowell Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union during 2014 and 2015 and as new account representative at Lowell Bank from 2010 to 2014. She is a graduate of Lowell High School. White, of Danville, N.H., has more than 35 years of banking experience.

Historic New England Recognizes Romano with 2024 Prize for Collecting Works on Paper

Frank Romano, president and founder of Haverhill’s Museum of Printing, will receive Historic New England’s 2024 Prize for Collecting Works on Paper. The award honors collectors or dealers who have assembled or helped save significant collections related to New England. Romano has spent decades in the printing industry. He is the author of more than 60 books on topics related to the printing field. These include his trilogy: “History of the Linotype Company,” “History of the Phototypesetting Era” and “History of Desktop Publishing.” He has also served as editor for many indispensable industry tools including “Pocket Pal: The Little Handy Book of Graphic Arts Production.”

Over the years Romano, who established the Museum of Printing in 1978, has reached thousands of people through consulting, writing, public presentations and teaching.

Bridgestone Donates 15-Passenger Van to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Haverhill

Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Haverhill were surprised Wednesday to witness the arrival of a new passenger van to ensure their participation at various future events. Executive Director Javier Bristol called the children into the gymnasium to announce the arrival of a 2024 GMC 15-passenger Savana van. Valued at $60,000, it was a gift of the retailer Bridgestone, purchased at DeLuca GMC of Haverhill and delivered under Haverhill Police escort. “What does that mean for you guys? It means that we will now have two vans that we can utilize and have the flexibility to travel for different events—whether it be sports teams like our basketball AAU boys get to different events and different tournaments, whether it be for our workforce development program whereby director Allison to do some career exploration skill sets, to visit some small businesses, to get to some job training, give you guys the opportunities to get access to different things, that we wouldn’t otherwise have, with access to this new van,” Bristol explained.

Merrimack Valley Credit Union Donates Company SUV to Vehicles for Veterans

In time for Veterans Day, Merrimack Valley Credit Union recently donated of one of its company SUVs to Vehicles for Veterans, a nonprofit car donation foundation that supports U.S. veterans and their families. Vehicles for Veterans turns donated vehicles into money for veteran programs across the country that support housing, healthcare and employment assistance. Through this donation, the credit union is helping to further the organization’s mission to support veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country. “Honoring and supporting those who served is a cause that is extremely close to my heart,” says Merrimack Valley Credit Union President and CEO John J. Popinchalk ‘Hot House’ Prints, Collages and Drawings on Exhibit at Haverhill Gallery

“Hot House” by Andover artist, educator and curator Helen Popinchalk is on display through Saturday, Dec 21, at SJ Art Consulting, 43 Washington St., Haverhill. The gallery says the exhibit “showcases Popinchalk’s fusion of screen printing, gelatin printing, drawing, and collage on paper, creating vibrant compositions that delve into the world as seen by bees and pollinators.” Popinchalk’s art uses UV-sensitive materials that illuminate unseen floral markers guiding bees to nectar. Organizers add, “Through vivid color studies, Hot House celebrates nature’s beauty, inviting viewers to explore the often-invisible layers of the natural world.”

Popinchalk is a third-generation beekeeper, embracing her family’s tradition with five beehives, connecting her personal and artistic life to the pollinators that inspire her work.
