Community Action’s MakeIT Haverhill and MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center are partnering to better serve businesses and job seekers.
The Haverhill office of MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center, operated by Northern Essex Community College, will next week begin using MakeIT Haverhill’s space at 301 Washington St. As WHAV reported previously, MassHire Merrimack Valley closed its space in May at The Heights, 160 Merrimack St., Haverhill.
“When it comes to workforce development, MakeIT Haverhill has their ear on the ground and knows the needs of our community. They provide exceptional resources and educational opportunities that allow people to access employment and advance in their careers. Their new partnership with MassHire makes perfect sense and I’m glad I was able to make the connection between the two so Haverhill residents can continue to access MassHire services at a location they know and feel welcomed in.” said Haverhill Mayor Melinda E. Barrett.
James Henderson, executive director of the MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center, called the arrangement a “great example of partnership for the benefit of the city and its residents.” Kerri Sheeran Perry, president and CEO of Community Action added, “Community Action Inc. looks forward expanding workforce supports and opportunities for Haverhill residents through our partnership with Northern Essex Community College and MassHire.”
MassHire begins office hours Tuesday, Sept. 3, and opens Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, and 1-4 p.m., at MakeIT Haverhill, 301 Washington St., Haverhill.
