The city’s overnight winter parking ordinance takes effect Thursday, Nov. 15 and runs through April 1. Regardless of the weather during that time, all vehicles left on public streets must be parked on the even side of the road between 6 p.m.-6 a.m.

Overnight parking moves to the odd side of the street in January and rotates monthly through March. Violators are subject to a $25 fine and may have their vehicle towed.

Parking is banned altogether on certain downtown streets if and when a snow emergency is declared. In those instances, major closures include both sides of Merrimack, Emerson, Essex, White and Winter Streets. More information on parking scenarios due to weather is available at haverhillma.gov.
