Salvatore N. Lupoli’s Haverhill Heights downtown complex is well on its way to an on-time opening, Mayor James J. Fiorentini confirms.

Two months after the Merrimack Valley developer broke ground on his $30 million mixed-use complex at 192 Merrimack St., Fiorentini said he expects Lupoli to start pouring foundation on Wednesday.

“I spoke with Mr. Lupoli (and) he informed me that the project is on schedule . . . to open in late 2019 or early 2020,” the mayor said.

As WHAV previously reported, the 10-story building will be home to 42 market-rate apartments, a restaurant and sky lounge, and Northern Essex Community College’s new culinary program. An extension of the city’s riverfront boardwalk and public restrooms are also planned.

Lupoli, a Haverhill fixture for nearly 30 years since the introduction of his Sal’s Pizza location on Winter Street, is working alongside SGA Architects to bring the complex to life.
