Plaistow, N.H. first responders are preparing to send off their Police and Fire Department chiefs in a joint retirement party Monday, Dec. 31, with residents invited to the bash from 1-3 p.m. at the Safety Complex Training Hall, 27 Elm St.

Fire Chief John McArdle is retiring after nearly 30 years with the department, while Police Chief Kathleen Jones is putting away her badge following a 34-year stint.

The event is free and refreshments will be served.
