Marion Kakis-Young, 83, Realtor

Marion Kakis-Young, 83, died Saturday morning Dec. 22 at Lowell General Hospital. She was born in Watertown on May 12,1935 and was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Catherine (Sturgis) Kakis.

Young attended Watertown public schools and went to Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School upon her high school graduation. She later attended Bradford Junior College where she received an associate of arts degree and Bentley College where she also received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.

Young enjoyed a successful career at Raytheon in the missiles system division (Lexington, Bedford, Andover), Wang Laboratories (Lowell), and Digital Equipment Company (Stowe, Marlboro). She travelled the world nationally and globally for each company as a corporate representative.

Over the past 25 years, Young has worked as a realtor in the Chelmsford-Westford area. During that time, she made many sales and many long lasting relationships with her co-workers and clients.

Young loved her family, her Siamese cats, her career, her Greek heritage, along with politics, gardening, and many other activities that enriched her life. She loved and was most proud of her granddaughters, Alexandra (Lexie) Kennedy and Georgianna (Georgie) Kennedy, and her daughter Eva Kathy (Mavrofrides) Kennedy, all from Haverhill.

She leaves her brothers John Kakis and wife Mae (Woburn), Nicholas Kakis (Burlington), and sister-in-law Diane Kakis, wife of the late Emmanuel Kakis Jr., and many cousins, nieces, as well as, a nephew. Marion Kakis Young was the widow to John S. Young (Kansas) and the late George Mavrofrides (Haverhill).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Thursday, Dec. 27 from 4-7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will be in Haverhill’s Linwood Cemetery.
