D.J. Cunningham has made his college choice: Bryant University! The Haverhill High footballer Wednesday inked his signature on a national letter of intent to attend the division 1 university in Smithfield, R.I., HHS Principal Glenn Burns said.

Cunningham’s family was by his side as he signed the letter and posed for photos, which Burns posted to social media.

“(D.J.’s an) incredible scholar-athlete and even better person. He has made Haverhill proud,” Burns said.

The wide receiver and cornerback will reunite with another former Hillie once he steps on the Bulldogs’ campus: 2018 grad Broghean McGovern.

WHAV Sports Director Paul Ryan has high hopes for the brown and gold powerhouse duo.

“D.J. should be a valuable asset at Bryant because of his size and especially his speed,” Ryan said. “The Bryant coaching staff should find multiple ways to get him involved on offense and special teams.”

Haverhill High’s Hillies finished their season on Thanksgiving Day with a record of 4-7.
