UPDATE: DA Opens Inquiry Into 11-Year-Old Consentino Student’s Death

An 11-year-old Consentino girl died Tuesday night shortly after State and Lawrence Police opened an investigation into the circumstances that landed her in the hospital.

Essex County District Attorney’s office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball Monahan reported just before 8 p.m. that Precious Wallaces had died. Earlier, she told WHAV first responders were called to a Lawrence home early Saturday morning to assist the student. The girl, who lives in Haverhill, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital before being medflighted to Tufts Medical Center. She had been on life support since the weekend.

WHAV has received unconfirmed reports the student ingested a substance after school before falling ill. Superintendent Margaret Marotta has made grief counselors available for students needing support. Family members have created a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral expenses.
