Georgetown Police Tuesday arrested a 26-year-old resident on 16 firearm and drug offenses including fentanyl trafficking. The arrest of William Jean closed out a month-long investigation resulting in the seizure of weapons, counterfeit cash, suspected fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana.

Police from surrounding communities including Topsfield, Ipswich and Salisbury assisted Georgetown officers in executing a search warrant at 7 Charles St. at 7:45 a.m. July 24. Once inside the home, police discovered a loaded AR-15 assault rifle, a handgun an what police say was a “room full of drugs and manufacturing equipment.”

“No city or town is immune to gun violence and the drug epidemic, and the Georgetown Police Department will continue to be vigilant to combat these crimes and keep our community safe,” Georgetown Chief Donald C. Cudmore said in a statement, specifically calling out the efforts of Detective Sgt. James Rodden and Detective Matthew Carapellucci.

Jean is charged with fentanyl and cocaine trafficking, three counts of the possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of counterfeit currency and possession of more than 12 marijuana plants, among other offenses, police said.

He was arraigned in Haverhill District Court earlier this week.
