A 36-year-old Haverhill mother of two is facing several OUI-related charges after a Monday morning crash in Boxford left her two young children seriously injured.

According to the Essex District Attorney’s Office, Kimberly Desrochers is charged with OUI (drugs and serious injury) and assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury, along with other motor vehicle-related charges. It is her second OUI drug offense.

At 10:45 a.m. Monday, the 2007 Honda driven by Desrochers crashed into a tree on Route 97 in Boxford. The woman’s two-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were in the backseat at the time of the accident and all three were transported to Beverly Hospital for treatment. The boy was later flown to Boston’s Mass General Hospital with a serious head injury, the DA’s office said.

Desrochers is scheduled for arraignment in Haverhill District Court (sitting in Newburyport) Tuesday.
