A 21-year-old Methuen man was sentenced to a year behind bars after attempting to solicit sex from a teen girl he met online. The girl was actually an undercover police officer.
Pleading guilty Tuesday in New Hampshire, Kyle Erickson has been ordered to register as a sex offender as part of his sentence, the Rockingham County Superior Court clerk’s office told WHAV.
Erickson is said to have contacted a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl in October and, according to police, arranged to meet for sex at a movie theater in Derry, N.H. He was met by police once he arrived to the theater.
The investigation into Erickson took shape after a victim alleging assault came forward, according to court documents. He has been ordered to stay away from the victim and the victim’s family.
The Merrimack Valley man was given a suspended sentence of three-and-a-half to seven years in prison dependent on 10 years of good behavior.
