Karen A. Meola, 64, State Conservation and Recreation Department Assistant

Karen A. Meola, 64, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died April 7 at the High Pointe Hospice House following a brief illness.

The daughter of the late Victor V. and Jennie (Parino) Meola, she was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1972. As a young woman, she devoted herself to caring for a younger sister before entering the workforce. Meola was employed for over 30 years as an administrative assistant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

She was a member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint George’s Parish. Meola was a kind and gentle woman, devoted to family and friends and enjoyed cooking ethnic as well as exotic dishes for them. She was an avid reader and enjoyed singing and painting in acrylics.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor J. and Tracy Meola of Plaistow, N.H. and Raymond L. and Lisa Meola of Hemet Calif., a sister-in-law Anna Meola of Haverhill, a niece Nikki Meola of California, a nephew and his wife, Alex and Nina Meola of Haverhill, two grand-nieces Alina and Anabelle Meola, an uncle Romeo Parino of Haverhill and her longtime companion Michael Trodella of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her sister Virginia “Gina” Meola and a brother Michael R. Meola.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, April 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral service and burial will be private. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Massachusetts General Hospital.
