In the first official week of her campaign for state Senate, Diana DiZoglio is racking up endorsements.

A current member of the House of Representatives advocating for residents in Haverhill and Methuen, DiZoglio earned the support of Sen. Barbara L’Italien in the 1st Essex District Senate race.

DiZoglio is running to succeed Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives, who announced last month that she will not seek re-election when her term expires.

“Now more than ever, we need smart, bold leaders to step up to run for office. Diana has been an outspoken and respected voice in the House on issues related to substance abuse, veterans and as a champion for women in the workplace—work I know she will continue as a Senator,” L’Italien, herself running for Congress in the 3rd District, said.

“Working with her in the Merrimack Valley, I’ve had the honor of seeing firsthand that she will always fight for what’s right for her district,” L’Italien added. “I’m proud to support her candidacy, and look forward to all that she will accomplish.”

Currently in her third term as representative of the 14th Essex District, DiZoglio has also been endorsed by the Methuen City Council and School Committee.

She formally kicked off her campaign last week in Haverhill.
