Charles E. LaFollette, 84, Decorated Veteran

Charles E. LaFollette, 84, of Lawrence, died Sunday, April 1, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington.

He was born in Reelsville, Ind., July 27, 1933, son of the late Fred S. and Ethel (Killion) LaFollette and was educated there.

From 1953 until 1956 he served in the United States Army where he attained the rank of SP3 (T) and earned a National Defense Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal.

After his discharge, he moved to Lawrence and was employed for over 36 years as a custodian at the Greater Lawrence Technical School from where he retired.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. LaFollette also enjoyed playing 45’s and trips to casinos with his family.

His survivors include his wife Patricia A. (Galeazzi) LaFollette of Lawrence, five daughters, Debora Bunkartas of Lawrence, Theresa LaFollette of Lawrence, Wanda Smith and her husband Ray of FL, Linda Meli and her husband Paul of Lawrence, June Sobanek and her husband Wayne of Fitchburg, and a son, Charles E. LaFollette, Jr. of Lawrence, a sister, Genevieve “Sis” Bond of IN, ten grandchildren, Patricia Bunkartas, Thomas LaFollette, Jason Deltwas, April Renny, Kristina Meli, Paul Meli, III, Emily Sobanek, Nathan, Branson and Caleb LaFollette.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
