Haverhill Man, 29, Struck and Killed in Interstate 95 Accident in Newburyport

A 29-year-old Haverhill man has been identified as the victim of a Sunday morning accident on Interstate 95 in Newburyport.

State police said Miguel Gragirenes was walking on the southbound side of the highway around 2:30 a.m. when he was struck near exit 57, where Route 113 connects with I-95.

A female driver from Maine was headed south when she struck Gragirenes while he was walking in the second travel lane, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and includes teams from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services departments.

A Haverhill High graduate, Gragirenes was employed as a UPS driver. Funeral services will be held Thursday and Friday, with arrangements handled by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home in Haverhill.
