Northern Essex Community College’s men’s basketball team is one step closer to the NJCAA Region XXI finals. Led by top scorers Emir Alagoz (23 points) and Tom Jacobs (18 points), the Knights advanced to the semi-finals after beating MassBay in first-round play Wednesday night.
Other standout players included Alexis Estrella, DJ Greenhalgh, who each added scores in the double digits. Amesbury’s Kyle Martin added 10 rebounds.
The team’s 83-71 win secured them an appearance in Saturday’s semi-final game against Bristol Community College, a team they’ve played three times in as many weeks. A 4 p.m. tip off is expected at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston.
