Keith W. Eggers, 65, Worked at Hale and Merrimack Valley Hospitals

Keith W. Eggers, 65, of Haverhill, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. after battling leukemia.

He was born in Norwich, Conn., Jan. 20, 1953, son of Muriel L. (Hinners) Eggers of Andover and the late Richard H. Eggers Jr.

Eggers was educated in the Levittown, N.Y., and Farmingdale, N.Y. school systems. In 1974, he graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelors Degree in English. After moving to Massachusetts in 1977, he earned his registered nursing degree from Northern Essex Community College.

Until his retirement in 2006, he was employed as an RN in the ICU and as a clinical systems analyst at the former Hale and Merrimack Valley Hospitals, Haverhill, for more than 20 years.

Eggers enjoyed hiking, skiing, biking, calligraphy, building ships in bottles, tank models and was a military historian.

Besides his mother, survivors include his wife of 35 years, Deborah (Holland) Eggers of Haverhill; daughter, Kaitlin Eggers of Haverhill; brother, Bruce Eggers and his wife Gonny of Boca Raton, Fla.; in-laws Rina and Jack Petit of Litchfield, N.H., Patricia and Michael MacDonald of East Kingston, N.H., Maurice and Paula Holland of North Andover, Margaret (Dolly) Holland of New York City; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. A private graveside service will take place in the spring at the Norwich University Cemetery in Northfield Vt.
