State Sen. Barbara L’Italien said today she raised $320,000 toward her bid to succeed Congresswoman Niki Tsongas during the fourth quarter of 2017.
L’Italien officially entered the race in November. She said she is the female congressional candidate since Tsongas to raise this much money in her first reporting period.
“I’m so grateful for the hundreds of supporters who have donated to this campaign,” said L’Italien. “People are supporting our campaign because what I’ve been able to accomplish here in Massachusetts and my bold vision for what we need to tackle in Congress.”
She announced her campaign for Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional seat last Nov. 20 with a launch video highlighting her work on behalf of people with disabilities and seniors, and as a leader fighting for marriage equality and a woman’s right to choose, for which she was removed from her church.
“Working families know we need someone in Washington who has shown courage and leadership,” said L’Italien. “From fighting the Betsy DeVos education privatization agenda to pushing for clean energy and single-payer health care, I will be able to hit the ground running on issues that matter to families right here in this district.”
L’Italien said she will be releasing her full report to the Federal Election Commission by the end of the month. She is currently the state senator representing all of Andover, Dracut, Lawrence and Tewksbury. She formerly served as one of Haverhill’s state representatives.
