Richard C. Merritt, 56, Machinist

Richard C. Merritt, 56, husband of Tammy A. (Tracy) Merritt, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31 at Boston Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Richard C. Merritt, Sr. and Nancy A. (Smith) Rajotte. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Merritt was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1980 specializing in the machine shop.

He was employed as a machinist with J & B Machine for many years. Merritt was an avid motorcyclist and gear head. He loved working on projects for himself as well as for friends and family. His love of motorcycling brought him to Laconia Bike Week every year. Meritt was part of a special motorcycle club, R.O.M.E.O., which met two days a week. He also enjoyed going to bike night each week. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, friends and his cat “Magoo”. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Tammy, he is survived by his son Stephen W. Merritt of Haverhill, his stepson, Corey M. Jones of Haverhill, stepdaughter, Chelsea T. Patti and her partner Kyle L. Bolen of Amesbury, brothers and sisters Theresa J. Caruso and her husband Paul T. of Dracut, Michael A. Goodrich of Florida, Gary F. Goodrich and his wife Lauren of Lunenburg, Carl A. Rajotte, Jr. of Manchester, N.H., Michelle Rajotte and her husband Michael Wittrien of San Antonio, Texas, stepfather Carl A. Rajotte of Manchester, N.H., Paul Dirosa, Norman Sanscartier and Christina Sanscartier and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
