Haverhill and Newburyport medical provider Anna Jaques Hospital is considering a merger with the likes of Lahey Health and other Boston healthcare giants.
The Massachusetts Department of Health is holding a public hearing Wednesday in Newburyport to consider the merge that would bring together 13 hospitals. Should the merger go through, Anna Jaques and Lahey, along with the Beth Israel Deaconess system and New England Baptist Hospital would unite under a new parent corporation called “NewCo.”
According to a notice filed by Beth Israel, the merger hopes to reduce consumer healthcare costs and improve access to providers across the Commonwealth.
Wednesday’s public hearing takes place at 5 p.m. in the auditorium at Newburyport City Hall, 60 Pleasant St.
