Teachers and students at Ward Hill’s Hill View Montessori Charter Public School say there has always been a great feeling of school pride, but, thanks to a donation from Covanta, students are now displaying it everywhere.

Susan Consoli, of the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, came up with the idea of students wearing shirts emblazoned with Hill View’s name and logo. She asked for, and received, help from Covanta, located across the Ward Hill Business Park. The energy-from-waste company found a vendor to supply the shirts and helped pay for them. At a school assembly, Covanta Business Manager Mark Van Weelden witnessed the pride.

“It was outstanding to see all of the kids in their shirts,” he said. “The school pride was beaming on their faces during the event.”

During the assembly, Principal Debra Diggins thanked Van Weelden and Covanta for their continued efforts in supporting the school. Hill View serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
