Haverhill café Battle Grounds Coffee Company has been recognized by the Family Business Association with its 2017 First Generation Business of the Year Award.

Co-owners Salvatore and Dana DeGranco accepted the award at the FBA’s annual Massachusetts awards dinner. They were joined by Michael Bevilacqua, the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Assistant Vice President and Economic Development Director.

Located at 39 Washington Street, the veteran-owned specialty café offers coffee, espresso, lattes and cold brew along with a breakfast and lunch menu.

The café will host a free networking breakfast for the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and members of the community on Friday, Nov. 10 from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m.

  1. I am very pleased that this attractive new business has received recognition. A young, personable veteran and his wife recognized the need for something modern and attractive in downtown Haverhill. The City Council needs to do something to ensure the success of this enterprise; help them with free dedicated parking spaces close to the Cafe.
    It is not enough merely to welcome a new business, it is essential to be creative and flexible enough to make sure that it thrives.
