Ernesto A. Matos, 57, Worked at Portland Group

Ernesto A. Matos, 57, of Haverhill, passed away Oct. 14, at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, surrounded by his family.

Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of Reinaldo Perez of New Hampshire, and Lucy T. (Lopez) Perez of Haverhill. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1978. He was formerly employed at the Portland Group Plumbing Supply Company as a truck driver. Matos was an avid football and fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots and the Giants play. He had always been a big New York Yankees fan as well. You could always find him working on his truck. Matos especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Jesani. He was a loving father, son, grandfather and brother who loved his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Jessica Guadalupe of Haverhill; siblings, Reinaldo Perez Jr. of Reading; Sally Rexach of Haverhill; Estell Baez of Haverhill; Sonia Perez of Manchester, N.H.; Aggie Garcia and her husband Cesar of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Jaden Carignan and Jesani Ortiz; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his close friends who he grew up with, Wayne Perry, Kenny Stevenson and Richard Quickley.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, Oct. 19 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at  Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services follow at 7:30 in the funeral home.
