Police Seek Public’s Help with Memorial Day Weekend Stabbing

Haverhill Police are seeking the public’s help in piecing together more information that led to the Memorial Day weekend stabbing of a 28-year-old man with Haverhill connections.

Police are looking for any witnesses that have not already come forward as well as videos or photographs of the incident during the early morning hours of May 28 near 77 Washington St.

Matt Sabatino, of Lawrence, was stabbed in the chest and suffers from heart and lung injuries while trying to help during a fight. He has been described as fighting for his life at a Boston hospital. Sabatino is engaged and a father of two.

Hayden Delafuente, 21, of Haverhill, is charged with stabbing Sabatino and a 30-year old Salem, N.H., man. He was arrested and charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
