Six residents so far have taken out nomination papers for local elected office—five for City Council and one for School Committee.

Former City Councilor Kenneth E. Quimby Jr., 48 Goodale Ave., was the first person to take out papers and City Councilor Michael S. McGonagle, 39 Newton Ave., was the first sitting official to do so. Other council candidates are Adele F. Martino, 41 Welcome St., who unsuccessfully sought election to state Senate last year; Michael J. Katsulis, 119 S. Elm St., who has appeared before councilors to voice concerns over Bradford traffic issues; and Fred Simmons, 420 Amesbury Road, who has also unsuccessfully sought a city council seat previously.

Katrina Hobbs Everett, 41 S. Central St., who ran for City Council two years ago, is seeking a seat on the School Committee.

Nomination papers became available Monday. Candidates must submit 50 certified signatures by Aug. 1 to go on the ballot. Signatures are certified by the city Board of Registrars of Voters.

  1. Time to change out some of these people on the council. I’ll be voting for all the ones not in office. We need to see if it changes anything
