Charlnor (Worster) Rainville, 91, Worked for Telephone Co.

Charlnor (Worster) Rainville, 91, lifetime resident of Neck Road in the Ward Hill section of Haverhill, passed peacefully at her home in Wells, Maine, Thursday afternoon, April 6, after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her friends.

Born June 17, 1925 in Ward Hill, Haverhill, she was the younger of two daughters of the late Charles H. and Eleanor H. (Preble) Worster and was a graduate of Knipe High School in Haverhill, class of 1943. In her younger years she enjoyed being a girl scout and campfire girl. She enjoyed her years as a switchboard operator at New England Telephone Company and then at Western Electric, where she retired after 34 years. Rainville spent her spare time knitting, crocheting, doing intricate crewel work and especially loved traveling and spending time at her second home at Wells Beach with her sister, Gretna and their friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years, Robert F. Rainville, who passed in 2000 and her only sister, Gretna Abbott, who passed in 2015. She leaves behind cousins, extended family members and many lifelong friends.

An hour of visitation takes place Tuesday, April 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill, immediately followed by services at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
