margaret_cargillMargaret Cargill, 70, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, March 27, surrounded and supported by family and friends.

Cargill was born and raised in the Rochester, N.Y., area where she first discovered her love for the water alongside Lake Ontario. She later attended Vermont College before returning to upstate New York and starting her family. She adopted Newburyport as her home in 1979, where she raised her three children, launched a career in real estate and became an integral part of the Newburyport community. Over her 35-year career, Cargill came to be a true icon in the local real estate community. She was honored often for her accomplishments. The times Margaret cherished most were sharing childhood memories with her sisters, vacationing in Maine with her family, walking the mudflats of Cape Porpoise with her grandchildren in search of sand dollars, and laughing with her friends.

Cargill is survived by her three children, Catharene Cargill of Haverhill, and her husband Dave LaBrode, Megan Cargill McGough of West Roxbury, and her husband Don, and Kerry (K.C.) Cargill Jr. of Exeter, N.H., and his fiancée Alexis Wile; sisters Mary Vaughn Wolff and Deborah Vaughn Smith; six Grandchildren, Will, Maggie and Ellie, Kaya, Holden and Henley; and nieces, Amy Wolff, Jennifer Wolff Jones, Rebecca Bauer Lock, and Emily Bauer Morgan. She was predeceased by her parents Remsen (Red) Stoddard Vaughn and Catharene Bussell Vaughn; and her sister Martha Vaughn Bauer.
