South Carolina Boeing workers are voting Wednesday yes or no on whether they want to be represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
IAM Boeing Washington state workers, doing the same work as the South Carolina workers, used a video message to urge a yes vote for the IAM.
“Being part of a union gives you a voice. I get to make the same amount of money as the guy standing next to me. We have one of the best medical plans in the state. You deserve so much more than what Boeing is telling you right now. We build the same product. build the same airplanes, work for the same company. You deserve the same benefits that we have.”
AFL-CIO Urges Senate to Vote No Vote on Puzder
AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka says fast-food CEO Andy Puzder is a terrible choice for U.S. Labor Secretary. And he has a message for Congress.
“He or she has a responsibility to stand up for all working people. Andy Puzder fails this test miserably. His fast food company routinely steals workers’ wages. He’s referred to his employees as the ‘best of the worst,’” Trumka said. “And he says a ‘sense of accomplishment’ is a substitute for overtime pay. Simply put, Andy Puzder doesn’t respect the dignity of work. America deserves better. When the Senate finally gets around to considering his nomination we strongly encourage them to vote no.”
Physicians: Trump Mentally Unstable, Unsafe To be President
Trump is mentally unstable and incapable of serving safely as president.
That’s according to 35 mental health professionals, including a Harvard Psychiatry professor.
In a New York Times letter to the editor they say in part, “Mr. Trump’s speech and actions demonstrate an inability to tolerate views different from his own, leading to rage reactions. His words and behavior suggest a profound inability to empathize. We believe that the grave emotional instability indicated by Mr. Trump’s speech and actions makes him incapable of serving safely as president.”
Unions do nothing but breed mediocrity. Working in a job where your pay is determined by a Collective Bargaining Agreement there is absolutely no incentive to work harder, longer or faster than the person next to you. Why would you…there is no financial reward for doing so. In fact, there is culture in unions to work at as slow a pace as possible, which has created the sayings “Don’t kill the job” and “Not my job” which ensures unions to keep the work site gravy train jobs going.
It’s a universal truth that unions steal productivity from the entity paying them. Union members get paid via predetermined, artificially inflated prevailing wages, and they lock out non-union workers who could do the very same job, with increased quality and at a lower cost. Why do you think teachers were so motivated to defeat Question 2 which would have increased the number of Charter Schools in the state? The very last thing unions want is competition.
Look at the public employee unions in Haverhill for proof of how detrimental unions are to the people employing them. 30 Haverhill fire department employees knowingly and intentionally conspired with each other to steal over $55,000.00 from city taxpayers and only one of them lost their job. Each of these employees committed felony theft. Outside of the protection of a union, and in the real world, these employees would have immediately been fired and prosecuted. But when you have a Quid Pro Quo mayor looking for votes in exchange for letting criminals avoid prosecution that’s confirmation of how corrupt and detrimental unions are.
Currently Haverhill treasurer office employee Dawn Marie Medford is being prosecuted by the incompetent mayor for stealing, exactly like the HFD employees did. Unfortunately for her, she is not protected by a union who can cut a deal for her with a corrupt mayor like the HFD employees had.
And let’s not forget in 2012 when the HFD department wasn’t pleased with the progress of their contract negotiations they took it upon themselves to respond slowly to a fire to insanely somehow try to prove their value within the city. This resulted in an 84 year old woman dying. A HFD hack even made public statements that it was the mayor’s fault that the woman died. That immediately resulted in Ed Kelly, the Mafiaoso president of the Mass fire fighters union, to visit the city to intimidate locals that the HFD is made up of honest, hard working guys. And as expected, the mayor did nothing in response. In instances like this he has to….because for him to stay elected…Union Votes Matter.
