John A. “Jay” Meola, 35, Worked at Appli-Tec

john_meolaJohn A. “Jay” Meola, 35, of Amesbury and formerly of Haverhill, died unexpectedly  Wednesday morning, Dec. 28, at Tufts Medical Center, Boston.

He was born in Haverhill, Feb. 12, 1981, son of Cynthia (Corthell) Basiliere of Haverhill and Alphonse Meola of Haverhill and Newton, N.H. He was a Haverhill High School class of 1999 alum, worked part time at Market Basket for many years and finally found his calling as a mixer/part time super hero at Appli-Tec in Salem, N.H. He had many passions and hobbies but those who know him will remember him primarily for his ability to rules lawyer the fun out of any D&D campaign, card games and board games. He loved teaching his kids video games, and going to comedy shows. He was an accomplished dabbler in blacksmithing and a veracious reader.

Besides his parents, his survivors include his wife Libbyanne Meola, daughter, Melora Elandra Meola and son, Vincent Stormangelo Meola, all of Amesbury; stepmother, Sheila Meola of Newton, N.H.; paternal grandmother, Mary Louise (Minichiello) Meola of Haverhill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Andrea Small of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law David and Deana Small, and their children; nephew and niece Colby Small and Callie Small; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:15, at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
