Davis attended Tilton School and graduated from Haverhill High School. He first attended Yankton College in Yankton, S.D.. He was drafted into the army during the time of the Korean War but spent much of that time in Germany. Upon discharge from the army he graduated from New England College with a business degree. He began what would be a long career with W. T. Grant in the early 1950s and was with them until bankruptcy closed the stores in 1976. He married Carol Merrick of Haverhill, Sept. 4, 1955. Through the years with Grants they lived in Great Barrington, Westfield, Fitchburg, Medford, Watertown, Westwood and Beverly Farms. They then were transferred to Maine where they lived first in Springvale and then Yarmouth. He had several jobs following Grant’s bankruptcy and ultimately they moved to Atkinson, N.H. for a job offer and to be closer to their aging parents in Haverhill. They returned to Maine in 2002, this time to North Yarmouth.

Davis found his true calling in his later years doing property maintenance.
