Haverhill resident and former councilor Kenneth E. Quimby Jr. has rarely missed a City Council meeting since 1982 according to council President John A. Michitson
Michitson and Councilor Joseph J. Bevilacqua Tuesday night recognized Quimby as the unofficial 10th member of Haverhill’s City Council.
“We honor Kenny tonight as the 10th councilor because of his dedication to attending council meetings for four decades,” Michitson said.
Over the years, Quimby served a term on the council, has been involved in the audio and video recordings of council meetings and has lobbied for more senior housing and community programs. Those are just a few of Quimby’s many accomplishments noted by Councilor Michitson. Quimby is currently employed as a personal care assistant, helping elderly and handicapped people. “No one cares for people and loves Haverhill more than Ken Quimby,” Michitson added.
The man of the hour said a few words following the brief ceremony.
“We all need to be part of the team of Haverhill,” Quimby said. “We all care about one another and we need to make Haverhill a much better place for the future.”
