Updated: Police Arrest Two Who Robbed Teen at Gunpoint

Haverhill Police have arrested two people in connection with the armed robbery of an 18-year-old man, early last night, on River Street.

In custody are Zadrian Colon, and Geraldo Torres, both 19, and from Haverhill. They face armed robbery charges.

Police responded to a report of the teen being assaulted by five males just before 6:30 p.m., outside Tacos Lupita restaurant, 194 River St. The five men had earlier badgered the teen inside the restaurant, asking him, “Do you have a problem?” said Detective Lt. Robert P. Pistone. The men followed the 18-year-old outside to his car, displayed a handgun and robbed the man of unidentified personal effects. Police said the victim and assailants were not previously known to one another.

A police investigation continues, Pistone said.

Jose Defrancesco, 42, listed as homeless, was arrested Wednesday at 2:47 a.m. at police headquarters, 40 Bailey Boulevard, on a warrant related to shoplifting.

Joseph Vavra, 37, 17 Shepard St., Haverhill, was arrested at 6:31 p.m., at home, on warrants related to assault and battery on a family or household member and driving with a suspended license.
