Clifton Edward Judson Jr., 74, longtime Merrimac resident and formerly of Haverhill, passed peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 8, at Merrimack Valley Health Center, Amesbury, with his wife at his side.
Born in Haverhill, Dec. 26, 1941, he was one of four children of the late Clifton E. and Yvonne M. (Marchand) Judson. After graduating from Haverhill Trade School, Judson served with the United States Army during the early years of the Vietnam era, from Aug. 26, 1960 until his honorable discharge Aug. 13, 1963. at which time he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves serving until Aug. 23, 1966. As a heavy equipment mechanic, he had worked for the Merrimack Valley Paving Company of Groveland for many years. He was also a dedicated volunteer with the Merrimac Fire Department for 25 years, where he was the in house mechanic. He loved traveling to Bradenton, Fla., where he and his wife, Jeanne, spent many winter vacations.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Jeanne (Waterman) Judson, he leaves behind his children, Robert J. Judson and wife Kathleen of Merrimac, and their children, Robert Jr. and Christopher; Mark D. Judson and wife Marilyn of Merrimac, and their children, Cliffe and Jesse; Tracey A. Webster and husband Brian of Merrimac, and their children, Matthew and Meagan; and “CJ” Judson III and wife Kate of Haverhill, and their children, Emerson and Devan; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Carl Judson and wife Sandra of Groveland; sisters, Sandra Lambert and husband Alfred and Linda Champagne all of Groveland, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main St., Merrimac, were Sunday. A funeral mass takes plac Monday, Sept. 12,. 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 4 Green St., Merrimac. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimac Hose Company No. 1, 16 East Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
