Mavis C. (Sherbut) Belanger, 96, Insurance Secretary

Mavis C. (Sherbut) Belanger, 96, of Hampstead, N.H., passed away March 23, at Salem Haven Rehabilitation, Salem, N.H. Belanger was the wife of Gerard O. Belanger.

Born in Manchester, Vt., Aug. 28, 1919, Belanger was the daughter of the late Ralph S. and Annie E. (Sawyer) Sherbut. She was educated in Sandown, N.H., and continued her education at McIntosh Business School. She worked as secretary for 20 years at the Hills Insurance Agency, Plaistow, N.H., before retiring in 1981. Belanger attended St. Anne’s Church in Hampstead. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, and especially enjoyed dancing. For many years she, and her family, vacationed at their camp on Merrymeeting Lake.

Beside her husband of 39 years, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kennedy and her husband Brian of New Durham, N.H.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Beryl Millard of Elberton, Ga., Jeanne LaBranche and husband Norman of York, Maine, and several nieces and nephews. Belanger was the mother of the late Ralph E. Collins, and sister of the late Arlene Clark, Shirley Clark, Janice Wentworth and Raeburn Sherbut.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday, March 28, at 1 p.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Holy Angels Cemetery.
