Police Force Man’s Court Appearance on Theft Charges

A Haverhill man is due to appear in Haverhill District Court after his arrest for apparently failing to make court appearances in connection with a 2015 case in which he was charged with multiple counts of theft and credit card fraud.

Christopher Smith, 19, of 27 Mercury Terrace, Haverhill, was taken into custody on a default warrant by Haverhill police at 1:46 p.m., Wednesday, at home. A Haverhill police arrest log listed charges seven counts of larceny under $250 and seven counts of credit card fraud under $250. He was additionally charged with a single count of destruction of property.

As WHAV reported last July, Smith, then 18, was arrested by Haverhill police at 12:25 p.m., Saturday, July 4, at 27 Mercury Terrace on the same charges under two warrants.

In other police news, a Haverhill man is to be arraigned in district court on impaired driving and other motor vehicle charges after his arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Michael Harding, 37, of 238 Lawrence St., Haverhill, was arrested at 1:53 p.m., Wednesday, at 1194 Main St. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

A Lawrence man, arrested by Haverhill police Wednesday on charges of unlicensed driving and failure to signal, is due to appear in Haverhill District Court. Anthony Resto, 18, of Lawrence, was arrested at 2:51 p.m., Wednesday, at 33 Altamont St.

Also, a Haverhill woman is due in court after being arrested early Thursday morning on a charge of trespassing. Benita Soto, 22, of 47 Jackson St., Haverhill, was taken into custody by Haverhill police at 5:02 a.m., Thursday, at 12 Federal St.
