Joan M. Maher, 68, Worked at Pentucket Medical Associates

Maher, JoanJoan M. Maher, 68, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully, Jan. 20, with her family by her side at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

Maher was born in Haverhill Aug. 11, 1947, daughter of the late Agostino and Eva (Fallucchi) Cascone. She was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1965. After graduation she attended secretarial school in Boston. Maher was employed for many years at Avco and by the state of Georgia and its mental disabilities and mental health offices as a secretary. In 1998 Joan returned to Haverhill and was employed as a receptionist at Pentucket Medical Associates. She was a long time parishioner of Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford.

Maher is survived by her children, Lisa A. Racicot and her husband Steve of Manchester, N.H., Daniel Maher and his wife Julie of Atlanta, Georgia, and Steven M. Maher of Haverhill; sisters, Lois and her husband Roger Chadwick of Haverhill, and Maureen and her husband Jack Madden of Duxbury; grandchildren, Lianna Maher, Sean Maher, Taylia Racicot and Hailey Maher, a longtime companion, Frank Allen of Epping, N.H., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended visitation Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. (route 125), Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Hearts Church and burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
