District Attorney Confirms Shooting Death, Investigates

The office of Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett officially confirmed Friday morning a Haverhill man was the victim of a shooting death Monday evening at a Lake Street home.

Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for Blodgett, identified the victim as Eric Benedict, 25, of Haverhill. An investigation by state police assigned to Blodgett’s office has been ongoing since Haverhill police and emergency personnel responded to “a reported shooting” incident at about 7 p.m., Monday, at 452 Lake St, Haverhill.

“This matter remains under investigation by the Essex district attorney’s office. No one has been charged at this time,” Kimball-Monahan told WHAV.

A Haverhill police log from Monday indicated a call which triggered an ambulance to respond was received at 7:06 p.m.
