Haverhill Chamber Seeks Old Photographs for 100th Birthday

The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce prominently featured shoemaking in a logo it used for this 1920 publication.

In time for the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s 100th birthday operating under that name, the business group is seeking old photographs of local people, business and city scenes; information about historical events; and old chamber and City of Haverhill Directories!

Haverhill chamber officials are accepting donations through April 1. The items can be scanned and returned if requested. All items collected will be used in “story boards” at the chamber’s 100th Annual Diner and Awards Celebration June 2.

“This gala event will be a time to recognize the history of business and commerce in the City of Haverhill, from shoe manufacturing to creative economy, and celebrate a century of business growth and development in our region,” officials said in a statement. Plans to honor businesses with longevity through special awards, such as the Longevity Award, Half-Century Award and the Centenarian Award are already in the works.

In addition to the special awards, the chamber’s Annual Charles E. Billups Award, Jerry Loy Award, Community Leader award and the Chamber Service award will also be presented.
