Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley is hosting a support group for caregivers of loved ones with memory loss.

The group, facilitated by social worker Patricia Lavoie, helps caregivers manage the needs of their loved ones and helps them better understand and cope with the daily challenges of being a caregiver. Lavoie is program director of the Senior Adult Behavioral Medicine Center.

“Caregivers sometimes have difficulty understanding how valuable support groups are. The goal of our support group is to aid caregivers in managing the patient, and in understanding and coping with the daily challenges of care giving. Ultimately, a support group helps caregivers realize that they aren’t alone in the process, and that help, advice and support are available from others who are going through the same thing,” said Lavoie.

Meetings take place the third Wednesday of each month, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the first-floor atrium of the hospital, 140 Lincoln Ave. Light refreshments are served.

For more information, contact Lavoie at (978) 420-1162 or email [email protected].
