Eugene J. St. Pierre, 88, Served in Navy during World War II

eugene_st_pierreEugene J. St. Pierre, 88, of Lawrence, died Nov. 23, at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late Eugene J. and Mildred J. (Patterson) St. Pierre, he attended Haverhill High School. St. Pierre served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946 with the rank of seaman first class. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, the American Area Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. St. Pierre moved to California in 1949, where he was employed as a butcher, and later returned to the area in 2000. He enjoyed playing golf, especially while he was living in California.

He was predeceased by his wife, Donna (Hunington) St. Pierre, and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Jan St. Pierre of Beaumont, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Dewett of Lawrence; sister, Marcelle Imonti and her husband Roger of Haverhill; three grandchildren, Molly Marie St. Pierre of Beaumont, Calif., Samuel St. Pierre of Colorado and Kelli Acselrod of Vista, Calif.; two great grandchildren, Haylie and Evan Frees; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Lee St. Pierre, and his sisters, Paula Noury and Josephine Cunningham.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday, Nov. 28, from 3 to 5:15 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral service will follow at 5:30 in the funeral home followed by the rending of Military Honors by the United States Navy.
