Claire I. (Meteyer) Sanville, 84, a resident of Groveland since 1963, died Sept. 22, at her home with her daughters by her side.
Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Arthur R. and Blanche F. (Auclair) Meteyer, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School. Sanville graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1948, where she was drum majorette for the Haverhill High School Band. She was also an active member of class reunion committees. She was first employed in the Merrimack Street office of Massachusetts Electric Company and later at Western Electric Company as a solderer. She was also employed at Mitchell’s Department Store as a clerk in ladies sportswear. Before her retirement, she employed as office manager of the Haverhill office of the American Red Cross and was instrumental in organizing local blood drives. A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, Sanville was a supporter of the Guild of the Infant Savior and Catholic Charities. She was a an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting, attending yard sales, shopping, cooking French foods and traveling with her late husband in their retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Sanville, and is survived by two daughters, Cathy B. Willett and her husband Robert Willett Jr. of Salisbury, and Anne Marie Berardi of Georgetown; four grandsons, Erik Willett, Kyle Willett, Joseph Berardi Jr. and Daniel Berardi; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sanville’s life celebration Friday, Sept. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Her funeral begins Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
