Aida (Hershman) Katz, 92, Former Piano Instructor

Aida_KatzAida (Hershman) Katz, 92, of Haverhill, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 10, at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Haverhill.

She was born in Lynn, July 9, 1923, daughter of the late Jacob and Sarah (Zetlan) Hershman. Katz was educated in the Lynn school system and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. For many years she was a self-employed piano instructor. She was a member of Temple Emanu-El for 62 years and a life member of Hadassah.

She was predeceased by her husband Arnold Katz, who passed away in 1992, and her brother, Marshall Hershman. Her survivors include her daughters, Susan Katz Berenson and her husband Jeffrey and Judy Katz Solomon; son, David Katz and his wife Margie; sisters, Doris Gilberg, Alice Shactman and Janet Mazer; grandchildren Jessica Stevenson and her husband Andy, Garhett Solomon and his fiancée Dana Traub, Abby Solomon, Jennifer Katz, Amy Dubois and her husband Michael and their children Owen and Drew.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill. Interment will follow in the Sons of Abraham Cemetery, Beverly. A Shiva period will be held at her daughter’s home on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. Contributions in her name may be made to Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St. Haverhill MA 01830 to the attention of the Aida and Arnold Katz Family Fund.
