A Haverhill woman charged in connection with a fatal 2012 home invasion is due in Salem Superior Court Sept. 15 for a hearing on whether charges against her, including two counts of murder, should be dismissed.
An attorney for Angela Walsh, 24, of Haverhill, will file a motion to have the murder charges, as well as charges of home invasion, armed robbery, armed assault and burglary dismissed, according to Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokesperson for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. She told WHAV it is not uncommon for defendants to file a motion for dismissal.
Walsh, along with Joshua Cloutman, 23, also of Haverhill, is accused of orchestrating a July 23, 2012 armed home invasion to obtain marijuana and cash at an apartment below one she and Cloutman shared at 631 River St. They and one of three alleged gunmen, Juan Carlos Sanchez, 23, of Lawrence, were indicted by an Essex County grand jury in October, 2012. A second alleged gunman, Anddy Guzman, 20, of Lawrence and victim William Melchionda of Haverhill were both shot to death in a confrontation. Charges of murder, home invasion, firearms and numerous assault charges against a third alleged gunman, now 28, were dismissed on Oct. 26, 2012, Kimball-Monahan said.
According to Kimball-Monahan, prosecutors have been unable to reach any plea agreement with Walsh.
