Christos N. ‘Christy’ Rathosis, 83, Mitchell’s Manager, Veteran

RathosisChristos N. “Christy” Rathosis, 83, of Haverhill, passed away March 14, at the Oxford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health.

Born in Providence, R.I., son of the late, Nicholas C. and Angelina (Langes) Rathosis he attended Providence public schools and was a graduate of Providence Central High School, class of 1949. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954.

Rathosis was employed as a manager at the Mitchell’s Retail Department Store, he also tended bar for George K.’s in downtown Haverhill, and he also managed a Dunkin Donuts along with his former wife. Never idle, Rathosis enjoyed working in the service industry. During his retirement he worked at the Market Basket Supermarket where he enjoyed socializing with the customers. An avid sports fan, he attended Red Sox games and loved cheering on the Boston Bruins.

He leaves his son, Nicholas C. Rathosis, of Tilton, N,H.; a daughter; Angelina Marie Konstantinou, and her husband, George, of Greece; a brother, John N. Rathosis, of Providence, R.I.; two granddaughters, Angela and Rosalie Konstantinou; and nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a period of visitation Tuesday morning, March 17, from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 at the Holy Apostles Saints Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, Mill St. Haverhill.
