Police Foil Heroin Drug Trafficking at Restaurant

Four New Hampshire residents are due in Haverhill District Court Tuesday to face heroin trafficking charges after their arrests by police Sunday night at McDonald’s restaurant, 795 River Street.

Haverhill Police report Ariana K. Boyle, 19, and Jennifer A. Howard, 44, both of Rochester, N.H; Joshua A. Hunt, 28, of Manchester, N.H. and Daniel B. Mackenzie, 26, of Barrington, N.H., were each charged with trafficking in heroin, conspiracy to violate drug laws and knowingly being present where heroin is kept. The arrests occurred at 8:55 p.m., Sunday.

A traffic stop by Haverhill Police Saturday night lead to the arrest of a Lawrence man on drug possession and motor vehicle charges. Police report Statney Whitaker, 30, of Lawrence, was arrested at 9 p.m., Saturday, at 11 Arlington Street. He is charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute and possession of a class C substance.

In other police news, a Haverhill man arrested on assault charges in connection with a disturbance Friday night is due to be arraigned Tuesday in Haverhill District Court. Haverhill Police report William Degnic, 51, of Haverhill, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon to a witness (a knife) and assault and battery. The arrest occurred at 6:45 p.m., Friday, at 225 Hilldale Avenue.
