Jennie (Parino) Meola, 95, Former Shoe Stitcher

Jennie (Parino) Meola, 95, of Haverhill, died Monday, Feb. 2, at Holy Family at Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.

Daughter of the late Nilo and Virginia Parino, she was born in Agropoli, Italy. She came to this country as a child with her family and settled in Haverhill, where she attended school. Meola worked first at Western Electric Company and later as a stitcher for local shoe factories and for a leather company.

She was a former Parishioner of St. Rita’s and St. George’s Parishes in Haverhill. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, playing cards and cooking, especially for her large family gatherings.

The widow of Victor V. Meola, who died in 1986, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor J. and Tracey Meola of Plaistow, N.H. and Raymond L. and Lisa Meola of Hemet, Calif.; a daughter, Karen A. Meola of Haverhill and her longtime boyfriend, Michael Trodella; a daughter-in-law, Anna Meola of Haverhill; a brother, Romeo Parino of Haverhill; two grandchildren, Alex Meola and his wife, Nina of Haverhill and Nikki Meola of Hemet, Calif.; a great granddaughter, Alina Meola and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Michael R. Meola who died in 2005 and a daughter, Virginia “Gina” Meola who died in 1984; brothers, Joseph, Dominic, Anthony, Frank, Ralph “Jesse,” Carmen “Nicky” and Raymond Meola and sisters, Juliette Parino and Angie Pecci.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration Friday, Feb. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. There will be a Private Funeral Service and burial in St. Patrick Cemetery Saturday.
