Police in Groveland have stepped up patrols, while they and police in surrounding communities, including Haverhill, are on the lookout for a man suspected of following and approaching a young teenage girl at a bus stop in Groveland Wednesday morning.
According to a Groveland Police spokesperson, the girl told police that she got off her school bus, was walking on Washington Street, near Main Street when she noticed a vehicle that appeared to be following her. After a short time, the male operator of the vehicle pulled alongside the girl and said “do you want a ride?” before driving off.
Police talked to a Pentucket school bus driver who reported that she saw a similar looking person Tuesday, standing on the side of the road nearby.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s or early 60s with dark hair, a black beard and eyeglasses. He was driving an older model white Honda Accord 4-door sedan.
Anyone who sees a person matching this description is urged to call Groveland Police at (978) 521-1212, or call 911.
