Police Make Drug Arrest on Sixth Avenue

A Haverhill man is due to be arraigned on various charges in Haverhill District Court following his arrests Thursday afternoon in connection with alleged drug dealing.

Two arrests took place shortly before 4:30 p.m. at 21 Sixth Avenue. Haverhill Police report 30-year-old Jason Hamel of Haverhill was arrested by detectives on a charge of possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute. He was also taken into custody on outstanding warrants for possession of class B and class E substances and for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Nathan R. Gaskill, 24, of Waltham was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for larceny of a motor vehicle, and destruction of property over $250.

In other police news, a Haverhill man is facing a theft-related charge from Haverhill Police detectives as the result of an investigation Thursday. Police report 24-year-old Victor Falcon of Haverhill was arrested at 3 p.m., Thursday, at 40 Oak Terrace. He is charged with receiving stolen property. He is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

A Haverhill teen is charged with assault in connection with an alleged confrontation Thursday morning at John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School on Concord Street. Haverhill Police report a 13-year old female student was taken into custody outside the school at 260 Concord Street. She is charged with aggravated assault and battery. Her identity is being withheld due to her age. She will face arraignment on the charge in a juvenile court session.

A Haverhill man is facing weapons charges following an investigation by Haverhill Police in connection with an alleged assault. Police report 19-year-old Pierre Thibault of Haverhill was arrested on a warrant at about 12:20 p.m., Thursday, at 127 Winter Street. He is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and assault with a dangerous weapon.
