Time for morning commuters to dust off the snow brush.
The Merrimack Valley waking up this morning to the first signs of the approaching winter season. A trace to about an inch of slushy wet snowfall fell across the area overnight, accumulating mostly on grassy surfaces. Some parts between the Valley, central, and southeastern Massachusetts could see as much as three inches fall with reduced visibility, according to the National Weather Service. The first traces of snow in the Merrimack Valley Friday morning came just as the City of Haverhill’s overnight winter parking ordinance takes effect on Saturday, and will be in force through April 1. For the rtemainder of November, and through December 31, street parking from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. is allowed on the even numbered side of city streets. On January 1, overnight parking will be allowed on the odd numbered sides, in conjunction with odd or even-numbered months through April 1.
Parking is allowed as follows:
- Beginning November 15th at 6:00 pm to 6:00 am EVEN numbered side of street
- Beginning December 1st 6:00 pm to 6:00 am EVEN numbered side of street
- Beginning January 1st at 6:00 pm to 6:00 am ODD numbered side of street
- Beginning February 1st at 6:00 pm to 6:00 am EVEN numbered side of street
- Beginning March 1st at 6:00 pm to 6:00 am ODD numbered side of street
Violators are subject to a $25.00 fine and towing of motor vehicle.
