Learn About Robotic Hip, Knee Replacement at Dinner

Haverhill’s Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley hosts a senior lunch presentation on “Partial Knee and Total Hip Replacement,” 1 to 2 p.m., Dec. 2, in the hospital’s first-floor auditorium, 140 Lincoln Avenue.

Orthopedic Surgeon Barry Bickley will talk about MAKOplasty, a robotic assisted surgery for patients suffering from early- to mid-stage osteoarthritis of the knee and hip that is designed to relieve pain caused by joint degeneration.

Patients who opt to have a MAKOplasty procedure often have a smaller incision, less scaring, shorter hospitalization, a shorter recovery and a more natural feeling knee following surgery.

The cost of $5 includes a full dinner and the presentation. The menu includes garden salad and rolls, beef stew with buttermilk biscuits, gingerbread cake, coffee and tea.
